How This DJ Coach Made $11,800 in One Month (No Ads, No Website)
Interview Transcript
From Zero to $11,800 – The Big Reveal
Max: How much did you make last month?
Jason: Eleven thousand and eight hundred dollars in new sales.
Max: All right, I just had a wonderful interview with our client Jason who cracked over ten thousand in a single month with DJ coaching. Super interesting. We’re talking about how he changed his offer from a hundred dollars an hour, which is something we get all the time, to now charging premium prices working with a couple clients and of course making over 10K a month with that. So full details now, the interview. Have fun, enjoy, and I’ll see you there.
Max: Jason, good to see you, good to hear you. Where are you tuning in from today?
Jason: I’m in San Jose, California, in the United States.
Max: Yeah, that’s amazing. So obviously you’ve been crushing it with your coaching biz. To wrap it up, how much did you make last month in total?
Jason: Last month I closed eleven thousand and eight hundred in new sales.
Max: Nice man, not bad. Happy for you man. And I gotta say, you’ve always been executing, you’ve always been humble with the feedback. It can be so easy if you’re just listening to doing the right thing and you’re like Jason who’s just executing the right thing. So really happy for you man.
The Secret Sauce – Helping EDM Producers Win
Max: So you have a pretty interesting niche. So as far as I understood, as a non-DJ, you’re helping DJ enthusiasts, newcomers to produce better songs, right?
Jason: Yes, exactly. So my USP is helping EDM producers to consistently finish high quality, release-ready songs.
Max: Damn, and also gotta say we’re talking about like, oh yeah, you made your first 10K month, but at the same time you’re really there for your clients and you’re providing really, really freaking awesome value. I mean, I see what people talk about your coaching. So it’s really cool because on one hand it allows you to get paid well, but on the other hand it’s also a type of coaching that isn’t really out there. You know, there’s DJ courses and whatnot, like video courses for a couple hundred bucks or something like that, but you actually work one-on-one with your clients and you’re only working with a few select few. So that means you can get paid a lot, but at the same time you can really focus on a few clients and not work yourself to death and so be creative for yourself and all that jazz. So that’s really amazing. So how did you get into this niche? Did you already know you’re gonna have it when you started with us, or did we nudge you into that niche? How exactly did it work?
Jason: Yeah, so I had actually been doing something along these lines already for about a year and a half before I started with FBM. It originally started with just music marketing. This was a skill that I had that people were reaching out to me to ask for help with, and eventually that turned into helping people with producing as well. But I was doing a very small, low ticket offer like a hundred dollars a month, one session a month, with maybe about like ten guys or so. I was averaging about five hundred to two thousand dollars a month off of that when I decided, hey, there’s more potential here. I wanna scale this and then joined FBM.
Breaking the $100 Trap – The Mindset Shift That Changed Everything
Max: The classic. Yeah, the classic single session hundred bucks kind of thing. We had it so many times people come to us. So when you say that was one of the changes that helped you that FBM helped you with, was that one of the biggest lessons? To instead of charging per hour, kind of go for charging for a bigger end result? Or was there any other lesson that trumps that? Tell us a little bit about that.
Jason: Yeah, that was definitely the biggest thing. In my mind, I knew that in order to get to a full-time income at a hundred a month, I was gonna need like fifty or more clients, which just wasn’t really realistic for me. So I knew that I needed to switch the model, but I just wasn’t sure how to do it. I didn’t have even the confidence or the knowledge or even the sales skills to be able to roll out a multi-thousand dollar offer. So FBM really helps me to also organize a program with steps, something that was in a presentable way to make the value worth more than it was, but then also how to actually execute it, generate leads, sell the program, and then get the results for the client over time.
Max: You know looking at, you know 11k whatever you close now, it’s not a bad thing. It’s a good start. So do you have anything planned what do you want to do with that money? Did you grab a celebration steak or something like that?
Jason: No, not really. I’ve been um, excuse me, I’ve been saving the money. I’ve been investing into my music. I’ve actually been pretty, you know, conservative with the money. I mean, I got a new car this year because my old car broke down and I didn’t buy like anything fancy. I just got like a Honda Civic but you know.
Max: Hey! I love Honda Civics man! Yeah, you gotta get that tuned. You gotta lower it. You gotta get the tuning in and everything. These are some of the best stock cars to like freaking tune to, man.
Jason: I guess like, yeah, maybe I should do that. It’s a new, it’s a 2023, it’s not a bad car but yeah, I wasn’t I wasn’t trying to ball out or anything like that. I think I’ve been fairly conservative with my spending a month.
Max: You said it’s a Honda Civic 2023. Let me, let me Google how that one looks like now.
Jason: All black Honda Civic sport. I actually really look for the
value for the price like I actually am really happy with it.
Max: Damn! I think these cars are freaking beautiful. I mean and then if you tune them you know, you put some body kit on them. You can do so much. I mean, it’s Japanese. So you know when I was in Tokyo, I saw a bunch of really epic Honda Civics. They’re actually beautiful cars and like you said like you get really good value for the price. Japanese cars are so underrated. I don’t know, everybody all about the freaking Lambos and Ferraris and whatnot but like I actually get more and more into just like thinking about what if I instead of buying an Aston Martin Vantage, I just buy as my next car a Honda Civic, a Nissan Skyline and just tune it or something you know. Like I, for me that’s kind of more interesting.
Jason: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, I had a Camry, a Mazda
and now my Honda Civic so yeah pretty much all Japanese cars.
Max: Hell yeah, my man. Anyways it’s a good sidetracked for all the non-car fans here.
No Ads, No Website, No Problem – The DM Framework Magic
Max: What exactly, how exactly are you getting your clients? Just to confirm, you’re not running ads, you don’t have hundreds of thousands of followers, you don’t even have… Do you have a website already? Did we build one with you? I can’t remember.
Jason: No, no, no, no, not yet.
Max: No website either, no ads. You walk us through it. How are you getting clients?
Jason: So I’ve been getting a lot of clients from my personal network. I know a lot of producers, DJs, from playing, especially locally in San Francisco, San Jose. There’s a pretty big house music, EDM scene here. So I am definitely meeting a lot of people in person and just through referrals. But then I’m also sourcing new leads from Reddit and Instagram. So my cold traffic is coming mainly literally from just sending cold DMs using the DM framework on Reddit and on Instagram.
Max: Yeah, a magical DM Framework 3.0. Love it man.
The Golden Truth – Same Effort, Different Results
Max: Honestly, there’s not much more from my side. You’ve been crushing it. I think we can easily get you to 30K a month without making many big changes, and then from 30K a month onwards you might hire a lead gen person who helps you a little bit with the lead gen, and then you can go up to 50K a month. And then we might do some sort of paid advertising. We might even do the paid advertising earlier. Of course, I sent you to our paid advertising live call that we have as part of the advanced program, so we’ll see what comes out there. Other than that, Jason my man, anything else you want to mention for anybody watching this now? They might be in the beginning of their journey or something like that. Anything you want to tell them?
Jason: You know, it’s been great. I would say it’s funny that when I was doing the hundred dollar a month model with clients previously, it was almost the same amount of effort to generate and to close the client for a hundred dollars a month. You know, I got the same objections, the same sort of situations just for that. It’s almost basically the same effort as it is now to close somebody for thousands of dollars for a full program. So FBM really, again, gave me the confidence, it gave me the structure as well as the skills to be able to do this, and it was one hundred percent worth it. The everything, the money, the time, everything, the investment, it made it totally worth it.
Max: Hell yeah man, hell yeah. I’ve literally been saying this for years. Like, it takes the same effort to charge a hundred bucks or a thousand or five thousand if you do the other things right. So happy to see working out with you so well man. Let’s keep pushing, let’s keep scaling, and yeah, thanks for your time dude. I’ll see you in the in the live call if you’re joining in 18 minutes.
Jason: Yeah absolutely. Sounds good, man.
Max: Thanks for your time dude. Maybe we can even send you some leads from that video. You never know if there’s some DJ fans in my audience. Then of course happy converting there and I’ll yeah stay in touch. See you soon bro.
Jason: Of course that’d be great. All right man. I’ll talk to you later. Peace.
Max: Peace.
Jason’s story is proof that you don’t need fancy marketing to build a successful coaching business. This DJ coach from San Jose went from making $500-2000 per month with $100 sessions to closing $11,800 in new sales last month. The game-changer? Switching from hourly billing to premium program packages. Jason helps EDM producers consistently finish high-quality, release-ready songs through one-on-one coaching. He gets clients through his local network in the San Francisco EDM scene and cold DMs on Reddit and Instagram – no ads, no website needed. The biggest lesson? It takes the same effort to close a $100 client as it does to close a $5000 client when you have the right structure, confidence, and sales skills. Jason’s conservative approach (he bought a practical Honda Civic instead of splurging) shows he’s building sustainable wealth while doing what he loves.
