The 11 Million View Viral Reel
Max: How many views did you get on your viral reel?
Johannes: The latest I checked was like 11 million.
Max: Walk us through it. What was the process of creating this piece of content?
Johannes: I just had the idea to…
Max: And you’ve done all that while doing exams.
Johannes: Yes, correct. I’m still at university at the same time.
Max: You also made quite some money over the last couple days. How much exactly did you make?
Johannes: 5.2K.
Max: How old are you again?
Johannes: I’m 24.
Max: Man, what are you tuning in from? Germany, right?
Johannes: I’m originally from Germany, like Munich area.
Max: Nice.
Johannes: But I live in Vienna now.
Max: Oh, I didn’t know, man. Like, next time I’m in Vienna, let’s hang out.
Johannes: Yeah, sure. Let’s do that.
Max: 100%, man. 100%. All right. So, how many views did you get on your viral reel?
Johannes: So, I think the latest I checked was like 11 million.
Max: That’s so sick. Walk us through it. What was the process of creating this piece of content? What was the idea behind it? What was the feedback that you got from us, etc.?
Johannes: Yeah. So, the thing is, I mean, I have an interesting story when it comes to my health problems in the past, and I just had the idea to connect my story to some topic that is trending at the moment or at least very popular and where lots of people have different opinions on, and that was, in my case, ice bathing. So I connected the story of my health problems, which were kidney stones. So that’s where basically my whole story started. And so I connected the kidney stones to the ice bath thing, and that it’s contributed to me getting kidney stones. And of course, like lots of people started going insane in the comment section, and I think that’s what mostly pushed the algorithm.
Max: You know as as as we often teach this whole idea of like great art divides audiences, right? So that is more true now than ever before, which is really interesting. And also what I really love is, you know, the fact that you mentioned that, you know, your health problems and you talking about it actually has helped you. So there’s this great Tony Robbins quote of like “make your mess your message,” and you’ve perfected that. It’s really amazing.
Program Support & Balancing University Life
Max: Now, I remember reviewing this specific piece of content in one of our live calls. Now, what specifically helped you create this viral content piece in regards to our support, our product, our program? How did that all help you?
Johannes: I think the live calls or the lead gen calls really helped to kind of understand what you have to watch out when it comes to details. Mh. Um, like how you build or create a reel from bottom to the top.
Max: Amen to that 100%. And you know, you’ve always shown up to the calls, you’ve always implemented, you always ask for feedback and all that. It’s like I said, everybody that I have on an interview, they all have the same patterns. They all show up all the time. They all ask for feedback, even if the feedback sometimes is harsh. And you know, you’re getting paid for that, which is fantastic. Like it pays off for you. And you’ve done all that while like doing exams for university and stuff like that, right?
Johannes: Yes. Correct. I’m still at university at the same time.
Max: Crazy. So, it’s definitely possible to have like a full-time obligation and still go viral and make money online, which is great proof on your side, you know.
Johannes: Yeah. Glad you can see that.
Max: How do you combine all that? How do you combine the university hustle with this?
Johannes: Well, um I think a lot of it is um of course getting used to it and time management is important to like not overthink like every uh little thing you have to do. Just split up your day uh in certain like time patterns and um just stick to those and because of course I could spend creating content all day but you like the overthinking part doesn’t really help. You don’t want to overthink creating content because I mean ideally you post daily and then it just you have to get into some flow where it just becomes a habit. And then at the same time taking time where you just focus on uni stuff and studying and everything.
Max: You couldn’t have said it more German, you know, like so good. Yeah. Good stuff, man.
Monetization Success & Coaching Business
Max: I mean, you also made quite some money over the last couple days. How much exactly did you make?
Johannes: Like 5.2K.
Max: 5200, euros?
Johannes: Euros. Yes.
Max: Wow. So, that’s I think that’s almost like $6,000 or something like that in a couple days. Yeah.
Johannes: Just like I had to nurture the new followers that I got from my lead and from my reel and um yeah, it took some time and but I uh stayed consistent and patient and now I think I’m at the point where they gain trust and uh now I can yeah get clients from them.
Max: Yeah, 100%. That’s exactly it. Like it’s you go viral with one then you got all the attention, you warm them up a little bit and then boom, you can sell them and in your case you’re selling them your own coaching services, right?
Johannes: Yes.
Max: So you’re doing you’re helping them with health fitness nutrition kind of stuff like that
Johannes: Exactly. Like um there are different cases like um from complex health problems um to just regular fitness goals so um but I think it’s important to always watch out for health first before getting into fitness because that’s like a common mistake people make that they just I just I’m going to the gym now and uh get a good physique but they still have like um deep down health problems and it will just hold them back until they fix them.
Max: Love it. That’s a very, very good point, actually. And man, you’re saying all these things, you’re so young. Like, how old are you again?
Johannes: I’m 24.
Max: Man! Like, you know, what most 24-year-olds do? You know, they do they they consume content. They don’t produce it, right? They watch other people succeed. They’re not succeeding themselves. And you’re like on that path, which is really amazing. And you know, I started this whole journey myself when I was like 20, 21ish. At 23, I had my coaching business. I started it, but I didn’t made much money yet. And you’re like very much in that time frame already, which is you’re ahead of so many people already, which is really, really cool. And it’s really inspiring, you know. I’ve been traveling for so long now. I’m 35 now. We’re in Budapest right now, for example. So this is like what the hotel background is weird and I can’t be super loud because my girlfriend’s still asleep in the next room. But um I’ve been doing this I’ve been doing this for so long and then seeing young folks like you who just starting their journey and like crushing it so much more easily. I’m like it’s so exciting, man.
Johannes: Yeah. I mean, I think a lot of young people waste their young energy, so to say, um, to just consume content. And I think I needed to make that shift and I couldn’t go back to just like scrolling. And I think most people just like consume nonsense content. And I try to provide value and actually like teach people stuff that they can benefit from.
Max: Yeah. And that’s the amazing thing. And the crazy thing is most of the content that you’re making is pretty simple. It’s just a clip with some words on it and it just works really, really well.
Johannes: Yeah. And I mean, recently I’ve also included more talking head reels. But that was just to get a personal connection to my new followers to nurture them, as I said.
Max: Exactly. Yeah. That’s what we always say, too. Like have the simple reels on the front end to new eyeballs and then start making videos where you’re talking and then that warms people up.
Advice for Creators & Daily Routine
Max: Yeah, man, Johannes, you’re crushing it. Anything else you want to mention here for listeners, for watchers that might be inspired by your story.
Johannes: Cool. I mean, I’ve been creating content for two and a half years and I was stuck for so long. Like it was really frustrating and I was always so close to the point where I said like, okay it just doesn’t work and I always tried different things. It was, yeah, as I said, really frustrating, but yeah, I mean it’s a process and you really have to be patient, I think. But of course, if you start from zero, then just get someone from the beginning who helps you and supports you, because I tried for so long on myself and it wasn’t worth the time, I think.
Max: Couldn’t have said it better, my man. I couldn’t have said it better. What’s on the menu for you today? What are you going to do?
Johannes: I’m going to hit the gym. I’m going to study for an exam in two days. And yeah, just uh get in touch with my clients and create content, of course. So, that’s my regular schedule on a daily basis.
Max: Love it, man. It’s a pretty nice schedule, man. Not going to lie. It’s really epic. Like I said, thanks for your time. I appreciate you. And, next time I’m in Vienna, I’ll be in Vienna in August. So, let’s grab some steak or something like that.
Johannes: Yeah, sure. It would be an honor.
Max: Sounds amazing, dude. Sounds amazing. And see you on the live calls, of course, as well. Good luck with the exams and everything. And stay in touch, too.
Johannes: Thank you. Thank you so much for your time Max.
What if I told you that a 24-year-old university student from Germany created one piece of content that generated 11 million views and €5,200 in revenue within days – all while preparing for exams?
Meet Johannes, a member of our Smartphone Freedom Lifestyle program, who proves that viral success isn’t about luck, fancy equipment, or having thousands of followers. It’s about strategy, authenticity, and knowing how to turn personal experiences into content that people can’t stop talking about.
The Viral Breakthrough: From Zero to 11 Million Views
Johannes didn’t start with a massive following. He’s been creating content for two and a half years, often feeling frustrated and close to giving up. But everything changed when he applied one simple principle we teach inside our program: connect your personal story to trending topics.
His breakthrough came when he linked his personal experience with kidney stones to the controversial topic of ice bathing. The result? His reel exploded to 11 million views.
“I connected the story of my health problems, which were kidney stones, to the ice bath thing and said it contributed to me getting kidney stones. Lots of people started going insane in the comment section, and I think that’s what mostly pushed the algorithm.” – Johannes
The Viral Content Strategy That Works
Step 1: Find Your Personal Story
Johannes didn’t create generic content. He used his real health struggles as the foundation. This authenticity is what made people stop scrolling and start engaging.
Step 2: Connect to Trending Topics
Ice bathing was (and still is) a hot topic with divided opinions. By connecting his kidney stone experience to this trend, Johannes tapped into existing conversations.
Step 3: Create Healthy Controversy
The best viral content often divides audiences. Johannes’s claim that ice baths contributed to his kidney stones sparked intense debate in the comments – exactly what the algorithm loves.
Step 4: Keep It Simple
Johannes’s most successful content isn’t fancy. It’s simple reels with text overlays. No expensive equipment, no complex editing – just clear, engaging content.
How Johannes Turned 11M Views Into €5,200
Going viral is one thing. Making money from it is another. Here’s exactly how Johannes monetized his viral moment:
The Nurturing Process
“I had to nurture the new followers that I got from my reel. It took some time, but I stayed consistent and patient. Now I’m at the point where they gained trust, and I can get clients from them.”
The Business Model
Johannes offers health and fitness coaching services, helping people with:
- Complex health problems
- Regular fitness goals
- Nutrition guidance
His unique approach? Health first, fitness second.
“I think it’s important to always watch out for health first before getting into fitness because that’s a common mistake people make. They just go to the gym now and get a good physique, but they still have deep down health problems that will hold them back.”

Balancing University Life with Viral Success
One of the most impressive aspects of Johannes’s story is that he achieved this success while being a full-time university student. Here’s his time management strategy:
Daily Structure That Works
- Morning: Gym workout
- Study time: Focused exam preparation
- Client work: Coaching and support
- Content creation: Daily posting routine
The Key Principles
- Time blocking: Split your day into specific time patterns and stick to them
- Avoid overthinking: Don’t spend all day perfecting one piece of content
- Build habits: Make content creation a daily routine, not a chore
- Stay focused: When it’s study time, focus only on studies
“You don’t want to overthink creating content because ideally you post daily. You have to get into some flow where it just becomes a habit.”
The Power of Community and Coaching
Johannes credits much of his success to the support he received through our live coaching calls. Here’s what made the difference:
- Detailed feedback: Learning how to build reels from bottom to top
- Consistent support: Regular guidance and course corrections
- Community accountability: Showing up consistently and implementing feedback
“The live calls really helped me understand what you have to watch out for when it comes to details – like how you build or create a reel from bottom to the top.”
Content Evolution: From Simple Reels to Personal Connection
Johannes’s content strategy evolved as his audience grew:
Phase 1: Viral Acquisition
Simple reels with text overlays to capture new eyeballs and generate massive reach.
Phase 2: Audience Nurturing
Talking head videos to build personal connections and establish trust with new followers.
This two-phase approach is exactly what we teach: use simple content to get attention, then use personal videos to build relationships.
Lessons from 2.5 Years of Struggle
Johannes’s journey wasn’t overnight success. He spent two and a half years struggling before his breakthrough. His advice for aspiring creators:
Key Insights
- Patience is crucial: Success takes time, even when you’re doing everything right
- Get support early: Don’t try to figure it out alone for years like he did
- Consistency beats perfection: Show up daily, even when results aren’t immediate
- Focus on value: Provide content that actually helps people
“I was stuck for so long. It was really frustrating, and I was always so close to the point where I said, ‘Okay, it just doesn’t work.’ But if you start from zero, just get someone from the beginning that helps you and supports you because I tried for so long by myself, and it wasn’t worth the time.”
Why Most 24-Year-Olds Fail (And Johannes Succeeded)
At 24, most people are consuming content, not creating it. They watch others succeed instead of building their own success. Johannes made a crucial mindset shift:
“I think a lot of young people waste their young energy just consuming content. I needed to make that shift, and I couldn’t go back to just scrolling. Most people consume nonsense content, and I try to provide value and actually teach people stuff they can benefit from.”
Key Takeaways: Your Viral Content Action Plan
Based on Johannes’s success, here’s your step-by-step action plan:
Content Strategy
- Identify your personal story: What challenges have you overcome?
- Find trending topics: What are people debating in your niche?
- Create the connection: How does your story relate to current trends?
- Embrace controversy: Take a stance that will generate discussion
- Keep it simple: Text overlays on simple clips work best
Monetization Strategy
- Go viral first: Focus on reach and engagement
- Nurture your audience: Create talking head videos to build trust
- Offer valuable services: Solve real problems for your followers
- Stay patient: Trust-building takes time but pays off
Time Management
- Block your schedule: Separate time for different activities
- Make it habitual: Post daily without overthinking
- Focus when needed: Give full attention to each task
