Interview Transcript
The Introduction – Meet Ari Mo
Max: All right, welcome back, Max Tornow here. Coming to you from my home office. And I’m sitting here with Ari Mo, is that your full, last name, first and last Mo? Or do you wanna just shorten it like that?
Ari: That is my alias.
Max: Love it, love it. Anyways, Ari has been very successful in our program since April. So you’ve joined three months ago roughly, right? May, June.
Ari: April, June 13th.
Max: Perfect, all right, So it’s almost a little bit more than three months ago and you’ve made 12,500, was it dollars or euros?
Ari: U.S. dollars.
Max: U.S. dollars, 12,500 U.S. dollars with our help, and you know, I’m connected to you, you’re in LA right now. I’m here in Kiev and we thought let’s share Ari’s success story here a little bit to just kind of see what is it all about, what is he doing, how did he make it. And just, you know, to inspire you, showing you what’s possible. Have you ever wondered whether there’s more to life than a boring, dead-end nine to five job? If you ever dreamed about breaking free, traveling the world, making good money and just enjoying life, no more office dress code, no morning commute, no boss. This channel is for you, so here’s to your freedom.
The Music Production Mentor – Ari’s Journey and Offer
Max: Ari we’ve chatted only a little bit just beforehand, like maybe three, four minutes. Tell us, so what exactly are you offering to your clients?
Ari: So right now I’m doing music production mentoring. So I’m helping people take their productions to a professional standard.
Max: Nice. What kind of music production, like electronic music? Or metal or something?
Ari: Computer-based, like a pop, hip hop, trap, and some rock, just whatever that you would normally make on your laptop. Of course, we mix live instruments in there. Yeah, it’s more modern-based contemporary style.
Max: That’s sick. I remember when my dad gave me the first version of Garage Band on the Mac, that must have been some 10, 15 years ago. And you know, I was literally like using like the Macbook onboard microphone like played with the guitar. It’s a cool thing. I never obviously capitalized on any of that, instead I went down the business route, but it sounds pretty cool. How did you have your experience in that? Did you study anything or how did you get to know that in that field?
Ari: I started playing guitar when I was 12. I grew up playing in bands and then I started messing around with recording when I was like 15. Just I had no equipment, I was just doing the most DIY thing, had no idea what I was doing. But I put the demos out there. And then later on after high school I went to school to study audio engineering. So that’s what I did for a while. And then after a few years from that I started learning how to make beats and produce actual tracks.
Max: Yeah.
Ari: That was actually in January of 2019. So it’s only been a year and a half, but I got pretty good at it pretty fast, and people started making content for my channel where I would sample ridiculous things and make beats out of it, and people started liking that. Started kind of like building a little reputation around that. And then I was working at Atlantic Records actually.
Max: Oh, no, sick, that’s amazing.
Ari: One year later the pandemic hits and I’m like, if I get laid off, I’m joining FBM ’cause I already had my eye on FBM for some time, right? So April 10th, I got laid off, four days later I joined the program.
Max: That’s amazing, that’s why I told you, I’m like, let’s jump right into the interview. ‘Cause I don’t want to know anything yet, until the very interview, that’s a fantastic story. I mean, on one hand it’s bad that you got laid off, but what I love about this is you took matters into your own hands and you rose above it. You came out from the ashes and said, okay, I’m gonna go full on my own thing. And I mean, now you just finished a $12.500 month. And that’s absolutely fantastic. I mean, I don’t know how much you got paid at Atlantic Records, you don’t have to publicize that information, but are you getting more now than you got paid before?
Ari: So I was an assistant there, so I was entry level. I was on minimum. Yeah, this is way better.
Max: Crushing it, how old are you, if I may ask?
Ari: 24.
Max: Okay because you look really young. I mean, that’s absolutely amazing, congrats for that. And just out of my own curiosity, what recording software do you use? I remember back in the days, Cubase was a big thing. Is that still existing?
Ari: Oh yeah, that’s still a thing for sure. I really wish I had Garage Band growing up, but I had to find some makeshift stuff, but nowadays Ableton, which is pretty popular and yeah.
The Client Acquisition Strategy – Manual Lead Generation Mastery
Max: Cool, that’s amazing, that’s amazing. So you’ve told us what you’re making with your offer, you told us what the offer is. Can you kind of guide us through how are you getting your clients? A lot of people think in order to make 10 K a month you gotta have a big YouTube channel. You have to have a big Instagram or anything. How are you getting your clients?
Ari: I absolutely used to think the same thing. ‘Cause I was trying to start a YouTube channel as well. And I’m like, oh, you need a lot of followers just to make 10,000 a month passively, right? Annual lead gen was just not in my reality. And then so literally I just had to follow the steps and just do it, it was literally that simple.
Max: Nice, so where exactly are you getting your clients from?
Ari: So right now mostly Facebook groups and a little bit of Instagram, but for the most part just Facebook groups, posting simple things in the groups that speaks to my target audience. And then just going through the DMs, doing the framework, booking calls, and just going through that.
Max: Sick, say, yeah, that’s kind of like, ’cause you mentioned the word manual lead gen before, right? Like obviously you and I know what it is, for you watching, manual lead generation is exactly what Ari here just described. It’s basically something where you don’t need a big social media, something where you don’t need to have a big following. You literally just go most direct route to someone that you could potentially help, to someone that could potentially be a client. You go to Facebook groups, like you said, or you messaged someone on Instagram. All you really need to know is where are the people that could use my help and what do I write in order for them to be excited about working with me? And you know, you’ve mentioned a DM framework that we’ve given you as well. What’s your Instagram, I’ll check it out. We’ll link a down below as well, let me just grab my phone here real quick.
Ari: So it’s Immersed, I’ll spell it out. I-M-M-E-R-S-E-D, so like Immersed. Underscore Records.
Max: Immersed Records, oh, there you go, Ari-Mo, 3000 followers. So you don’t have a big brand or anything, and you’re of showing that’s possible, fantastic, I just gave you a follow. So far so good. You’re based in LA, you said, where exactly? What part of town?
Ari: Downtown.
Max: Downtown, nice. What does your daily life look like? You kind of mentioned earlier, like you had to get up earlier than usual for this interview, which I appreciate, the time difference is always a little bad.
Ari: Super excited for this, so my pleasure.
Max: Love it. Well, guide us through a normal day in your life. What do you do?
Ari: So nowadays I work from home, now everything’s on my laptop or my phone. So what I usually do is I will post, I’ll do some lead generation I would say every other day because I’ll post one day and then the next day I just respond to everyone, do some conversations, book some calls, and I’ll just keep that cycle, and then just do my calls, and then work with my clients that I already have. And that’s kind of the cycle that it looks like. And it doesn’t even take up that much time to do all that when you kind of just find a systematic way to do it. And then the rest of my time, I’ve been developing videos for my clients and just trying to improve the program that I have. And yeah, I mean, that’s pretty much it, it’s pretty simple. Yeah, other than that, I just go out, live my life.
Max: What do you do in your spare time? Do you still produce music just for fun?
Ari: Yeah, absolutely, I’m in a band. We meet up once a week and then I like to bike around LA, the city, even though everything’s locked down, I just bike around and then just hang out with my friends, yeah.
Max: Sick. Sounds sick, I mean, I used to live in LA for a couple of months on and off. I lived right behind the Roosevelt Hotel up in Hollywood, if you know where that is. And it’s super nice to either walk or ride around through LA, especially when it’s not too hot when you do in the evening times. So it sounds like a pretty cool thing.
The Mindset That Made It Work – All In or Nothing
Max: Now you’ve started in April. And you went through the program pretty fast. How did you do it? Was it just because you had no other choice or what was your mindset?
Ari: Well, I just went through it like each week, I would say by the time I got to week 10 that’s when I started doing sales, which was four weeks ago. So I just went through it week by week, I took my time. I joined all the live calls that I could even back then when I didn’t have questions I followed every step that was laid out.
Max: Got it.
Ari: Even just joined all the live calls. And my mindset was like, this is the best time to do this. This is the best. And what is the alternative?
Max: Yeah, It’s kind of crazy because you’ve kind of like, since you lost your job, you got laid off, you were kind of like backed into the corner, and like you said, what’s the alternative? Was really interesting.
Ari: Right, ’cause I got to pay my rent. The funny thing was, even when I signed up, that was right when I got laid off, I had to pay rent in LA. Didn’t even have that much savings, but I’m like, whatever I have, I’m just gonna use it. And we just have to make this work.
Max: That’s so amazing, man. I love hearing these inspirational stories from our clients. And I said this on the live call many times too. I’m like, this inspires me. I love the inspiring stories from our successful clients. I’m not always just saying that, it really is like that. It reminds me a lot of what I went through back in 2010, I didn’t even have as difficult of a situation as you. I did lose my job, but I lived in Austria, it’s a social state, so I would still get paid from the state to keep studying. But I also just kind of put all my eggs in one basket and said, I don’t wanna even finish studies ’cause then I’ll become a high school teacher for English and Latin. And I’m like, to hell, what’s the alternative? That’s literally the same words that I had. What’s the alternative? There is no real alternative for me. I’m either gonna make this work or nothing. And it seems like you had a similar mindset and obviously you got rewarded for that, and that’s absolutely amazing.
Scaling Beyond $12.5K – The Future Vision
Max: Now, 12 and a half K in one month. What’s the next goal for you? How far do you want us to help you scale up?
Ari: My goal is to be able to do this consistently. I did not expect to do this well in the first month. Like it’s crazy. I thought it would take me the rest of this year to get there, but it happened so early. So now my standards went up, and now the name of the game is consistency. So it’s just keeping that up. And I’m really excited about the advanced program. I really wanna get into that as well.
Max: GG, well, you’re at the right place if you wanna keep that consistency up. Do you wanna stay at around 10, 12, 15 K? Or do you want to say 30 K, 50 K, something? Where’s your benchmark, sorry?
Ari: It’s very high, It’s ridiculous. The 10 K will not cut it for me. It’s a great starting point, but it’s just the beginning.
Max: Love it, good, I love that mindset, right? We’ll obviously push you through that next step. Then if you made 12 and a half K in one month, next step is gonna be just simply double, 25 K, ’cause the thing right, excuse me, the thing right now is that we have a proof that what you do works, right? That your offer works, that you can close, that you know how to talk to people, that you’re bringing value to your clients. All of this is just proof, right? The first 10 K, this is why we always say the first 10 K is like a milestone, it’s like the base level, right? You have a proof of concept it all works, and all we have to do now is put more in, it’s almost like a conveyor belt. We put more raw materials in the beginning of this conveyor belt, and then you get more and results out of the end of the conveyor belt. And that’s what’s called scaling, right? And then slowly, but steadily we can help you get your first key hire so you can more and more remove yourself from being in the business and you just work on the business, right? That’s kind of what I’m doing at my level, making the multiple seven figures, while I’m just like the puppet master, or like the chess dude or the, what’s that game called in English where you have the ships and you have to crash all the other ships? Yeah, battleship, exactly. In German we say (speaking in foreign language). Exactly, it’s like you’re the battleship, dude, you just put things into position. Yeah, fantastic. Do you have anything else? So if someone’s watching this video right now, right, they might be in a similar situation like you right now, or like you were, what message do you have for those people?
Ari: Take the jump, but do it a 100%. You cannot half-ass it, you can’t be wishy washy. It’s like you either gotta do this or not, almost as if your life depends on it. And in my case, it actually did. So that really motivated me. But even if it doesn’t, gotta find some kind of factor, whether it’s the life survival factor or the emotional factor, your own happiness, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made for myself because I’ve never wanted to work for anybody and take orders unless it was for somebody that I wanna be like. And there’s literally nothing to lose.
Max: Cool man, I can’t really say anything else apart from that, that’s just really fantastic. Love the mindset, love the execution. We’ll talk more about this in a second. If you say this sounds good, you’re inspired by Ari’s story here, you say, hey, I also wanna get things done, I also wanna become my own boss, then you can book a free consulting call either with me directly or with an expert from our team.
