Going Viral in a Week: A Yoga Teacher’s Journey From Zero to 4,000 New Followers
Video Transcript
Starting From Scratch: No Camera, No Clue, No Problem
Lara: I didn’t know anything. I didn’t even have the right kind of camera on my phone. I had to invest in a new phone with a camera, and I didn’t know anything about filming at all, or how to create content that will get people interested and watching what you’re putting out there. Well, to when I began, I had zero, zero knowledge. Yeah, I really started from scratch. I had got to a point where I was building my confidence. I felt I’d built confidence to film a reel, because I didn’t do any filming or anything before, at all, ever.
Cracking the Code: Confidence, Content, and Going Viral
Lara: So yeah, I’d already got to a level of being confident filming a reel, but in terms of content, and a strong hook and everything that is going to bring an audience to me, yeah, I wasn’t so confident. Now it’s crazy. I feel really confident. I feel like I’ve learned so much. And that is only been since November. So that’s just a few months. Yeah, now my whole mindset has completely changed. Like people are just following me, it’s almost like automatically now. I feel like my content is valued, and Yeah, I feel completely in a different place now, like completely different. I feel like a complete transformation.
I was bouncing on the walls. I was so happy. Yeah, I was so excited. And then, you like, you feel so excited. Well, I did to start with, and then it suddenly you’re like, whoa. Yeah, it is, it’s a mixture of emotions. I was so made up, and I felt like, “Oh my god, I’ve cracked it. I’ve actually cracked it.” It really is like cracking open an egg and suddenly it’s all flowing out, and you don’t need to try and, you know, banging your head against a brick wall all the time.
The Overwhelming Side of Growth: Teaching Thousands You’ve Never Met
Lara: Overwhelmed. I felt really, really overwhelmed, and very responsible, well, because they’re looking to me as a teacher, which obviously is different. I’ve been teaching for 16 years, yoga in person, and you build the confidence through being in person. So you get to know your students personally, whereas this is, it’s kind of like you have to, you have to breathe through it, because it feels quite overwhelming that so many people are looking to you. And you can’t necessarily, you know, build that, that really close relationship with them. So you have to be at your best game all the time, I think, and also prepared to face some negative comments as well. Mainly positive. It’s only a tiny percentage that’s negative, but you have to prepare yourself for that, definitely. And yeah, just to be there for so many people is crazy. It’s really overwhelming. I’m sure I’ll get used to it.
The Real Cost and Reward: Time, Sales, and Momentum Building
Lara: Well, my personal life at the moment, I have practically zero time for myself. So it is, I’m, well, because I’m putting so much into it. That’s just the way it is, and I accept that at the moment. I know that I’m doing this so in the future I will have the time that I want for myself and for my family and for my business. Yeah, I’ve already seen some sales. So I can see that it’s beginning to grow already. But it’s also affected positively, my in-person teaching as well. So I really feel that the growth is really beginning. It’s going to start building momentum very soon. I can feel that, definitely.
The Secret Ingredient: Mindset, Support, and Staying on the Path
Lara: But you can do it. You can do it no matter where you are, because I didn’t know anything. I didn’t. I literally started from scratch. Yeah, that you can do it. You can do it. And I’m just so happy that I’ve had the support that I’ve had and I’ve learned everything that I’ve learned, because you could just give up, and I imagine that most people who don’t go through your kind of program do, because it does take time and it does take a lot of work and consistency. You can’t let it go. You can’t let go. You have to keep going. But when you’ve got someone behind you supporting you, that just changes everything. Definitely.
I’m a person who doesn’t have limiting beliefs, to be honest. So I did have determination, to be fair. My mindset is very, very determined. And I definitely always hold a positive mental attitude for sure. But I think that’s why the support is so important, because even when you have that positive mindset, you still have to go through this emotional phase of, like, putting content out every day and just seeing a tiny bit of growth every day, and then just really having faith that it is going to, you are going to make a breakthrough at some point. But I never doubted it, because that is the kind of person that I am. I won’t give up. But you could so easily.
So yeah, I think it’s really important to have that mindset as well. And that’s another reason why what you do is so important, because you have, you know, you’re interacting with other people who are going through the same journey, and all the, all the mentors are all there for you to tell you, you will do it, and it’s okay to feel like that sometimes, and you just keep going, make your way through it, and you will come out the other side. With determination, you will, for sure.
Just, definitely don’t do that, if you overthink it, then that exacerbates the emotions that you might already be riding. So yeah, listen to the mentors and follow exactly what they tell you to do, because they’re the experts, and they know what is going to eventually bring you that massive, like river of followers and people interested. But if you go off on a tangent, and I know it’s really tempting, because you know, we’re creating something, so we want to be creative. We want to put our personal touch in there, which you can do eventually. I think you do, your own personality does shine through eventually, but in the beginning, I would say definitely don’t overthink it, and don’t wander off the path either. Definitely listen to what your mentors are telling you to do, because they know, and it works.
A Yoga Teacher Who Started From Absolute Zero – And Went Viral Anyway
Lara had been teaching yoga in person for 16 years.
She knew her craft inside out.
But when it came to going viral as a yoga teacher on social media?
She had no idea where to start.
She didn’t even own the right phone.
She bought a new one just to begin.
When she joined the program, she could film a reel, but she had no idea how to create content that would actually pull in an audience.
No hook, no strategy, no confidence in what she was putting out.
That all changed within a few months.
She learned how to build strong hooks, what makes content work, and how to stay consistent without burning out.
Then it happened. One reel took off.
She gained 4,000 followers in a single week, started seeing her first sales, and felt what she described as “cracking open an egg.”
The growth she’d been working toward was finally flowing.
Going viral as a yoga teacher turned out to be completely possible, even starting from scratch, even later in life, even without any previous experience.
What made the difference, she says, wasn’t just the strategy.
It was having people behind her who told her to keep going when it felt slow.
It was being part of a community of others on the same journey.
And it was learning to trust the process, to stop overthinking, stop wandering off the path, and follow what the mentors said.
Because it works.
